UNIFI WI-FI OPTIMIZATION · WESTCHESTER, NY

UniFi Wi-Fi optimization. Better performance where it matters.

Hands-on UniFi access point tuning for homes and businesses in Westchester. A system can be installed and online without being tuned for the space. We take measurements, investigate what’s holding it back and adjust access point settings to improve performance where you actually use Wi-Fi.

BEYOND THE DEFAULT SETTINGS

Slow UniFi Wi-Fi? Start with the radio settings.

We often see installations where access points have been left at their default settings. Those settings may work well in some spaces, but they aren’t always the best fit for the building, nearby networks or the devices using them.

We measure the conditions on site and make targeted manual adjustments where the findings support them. The aim is better everyday performance and less avoidable interference—not changing settings simply because they’re on automatic.

Recognize the symptoms?

Slow Wi-Fi despite a fast internet plan. Calls that break up as you move between rooms. Strong signal but inconsistent speeds. Devices that keep disconnecting, or parts of the building that never work quite as well as the rest.

Look beyond the access point.

Radio settings are only part of the picture. We also investigate placement, wired connections and the wider network so a cabling, switching or internet issue doesn’t get mistaken for a Wi-Fi tuning problem.

MEASUREMENTS GUIDE THE WORK

A practical tuning process.

  1. Establish a baseline. Review symptoms and take signal and performance measurements in the areas that matter. Examine radio conditions and the existing AP configuration.
  2. Adjust with a purpose. Review channel selection, channel width and transmit power across the access points. Make manual changes where appropriate for the measured conditions.
  3. Check real use. Repeat checks in the same areas and test the devices and activities in scope. Investigate roaming behavior when movement between access points is part of the problem.
  4. Explain the result. Summarize what changed, what improved and any remaining limitations. If placement, cabling or replacement equipment is needed, explain why.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Good equipment deserves a considered setup.

Are default or automatic UniFi settings always wrong?

No. Automatic settings can be useful and may suit the environment. We use measurements and observed behavior to decide whether a manual adjustment is worthwhile, then check its effect.

Will increasing transmit power or channel width make Wi-Fi faster?

Not necessarily. Higher power and wider channels involve tradeoffs, including coverage overlap and use of the available spectrum. We choose settings based on the environment rather than setting every radio to its maximum.

Can you eliminate interference?

We can work to reduce avoidable interference and contention within your setup. Neighboring networks and other sources are outside our control, so the goal is to make sensible use of the conditions available—not promise an interference-free environment.

Can you tune a network installed by another company?

Yes. We can provide a focused performance review and tuning project, coordinating authorized access with you or your existing installer or IT team. No ongoing IT contract is required for project work.

Will tuning fix every performance problem?

No. Some issues need better AP placement, wired connections, equipment changes or work elsewhere in the network. We explain those findings before proposing additional work. We don’t promise a fixed speed increase.

What does UniFi optimization cost?

Wi-Fi optimization starts at $600. The scope depends on the size of the network, the symptoms and the measurement and configuration work required. A free assessment provides initial review and recommendations; it does not include free tuning or configuration.
