UNIFI TROUBLESHOOTING · WESTCHESTER, NY

UniFi troubleshooting. Get to the cause.

Independent Ubiquiti UniFi help in Westchester for slow speeds, unreliable connections or a network that needs constant restarting. We bring deep UniFi experience to problems across access points, switches and gateways—including issues that previous attempts haven’t resolved.

MORE THAN A WI-FI PROBLEM

Slow UniFi networks, dropouts and connection problems.

A slow connection doesn’t automatically mean you need a new access point. The cause could be radio settings, a network loop, a cabling fault or a design that no longer fits the way the network is used.

We trace the problem through the system, explain what we find and agree on the work needed to address it. We can troubleshoot a UniFi installation built by another company and work alongside your current IT team.

Slow or inconsistent performance.

Good speeds in one area, poor results in another. Calls freezing, devices dropping off or performance getting worse when more people connect. We look at the affected locations and devices, then investigate the wireless and wired connections behind them.

Network loops and unstable connections.

Loops can disrupt traffic and cause widespread slowdowns or outages. We examine how equipment is connected, switching behavior and loop protection to identify the cause of instability and plan the appropriate correction.

Untuned or poorly tuned access points.

Default settings aren’t always the best fit—and manual settings can be wrong for the space too. We take measurements and review channel selection, channel width, transmit power and AP placement before making targeted adjustments.

Devices offline or networks not working.

Access points that disconnect, adoption problems, guest Wi-Fi without internet or devices unable to reach the services they need. We investigate power, cabling, addressing, VLANs and firewall rules as the symptoms require.

A METHODICAL APPROACH

Find the cause. Make the change. Verify the result.

  1. Understand what’s happening. Start with the symptoms, affected devices, timing and changes already tried. Review the setup and establish authorized access with you or your provider.
  2. Investigate the evidence. Use measurements, configuration review and available network events to narrow down the cause. Separate Wi-Fi issues from problems elsewhere in the network.
  3. Agree on the fix. Explain the findings, proposed work and expected interruptions before making changes. Preserve the existing configuration where practical so changes can be reviewed or reversed.
  4. Check the affected connections. Retest the areas and activities in scope, explain what changed and identify anything that needs further attention.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Specialist help, without the guesswork.

Can you help when another installer couldn’t resolve the problem?

Yes. We’re often brought in for persistent Wi-Fi and networking issues. We take a fresh look at the evidence and review what has already been tried, rather than assuming the previous diagnosis was correct.

How is troubleshooting different from UniFi optimization?

Troubleshooting investigates an unexplained fault or unreliable behavior across the network. Optimization focuses on measuring and improving Wi-Fi performance. They can overlap: troubleshooting may reveal that AP tuning is the right fix, or that the cause is elsewhere.

Can a network loop make Wi-Fi seem slow?

Yes. A loop in the connected network can affect devices using Wi-Fi as well as wired devices. We check the wider network when the symptoms suggest the problem extends beyond the radios.

Do we need new equipment?

Not always. Configuration, cabling, placement or network design may be the issue. If replacement equipment is needed, we explain why and scope it separately.

Do you provide official Ubiquiti support?

914 WiFi is an independent networking specialist. We provide hands-on UniFi troubleshooting and configuration services; we are not Ubiquiti’s official support department.

How much does troubleshooting cost?

Focused Wi-Fi fixes start at $300, Wi-Fi optimization starts at $600, and advanced networking is $150 per hour or a project quote. We agree on the scope before paid work begins. The free assessment covers initial review and recommendations, not free remediation.

Do we need an ongoing support contract?

No ongoing IT contract is required for project work. If you need ongoing support or guaranteed response times, we can discuss a separate agreement with an agreed scope.
