UNIFI MIGRATION · WESTCHESTER, NY

Moving from Meraki or Fortinet to UniFi?

A license renewal, an upgrade quote or a network that no longer fits can be a good reason to review your options. We help Westchester businesses compare the costs and tradeoffs, then plan the transition if UniFi is the right fit.

START WITH WHAT YOUR NETWORK NEEDS

A lower renewal bill is only part of the decision.

We review the equipment you own, the features you rely on and the problems you want to solve. Your next network needs to support the way you work—not just look less expensive on a quote.

UniFi offers license-free core network management with suitable deployment options. Hardware, installation and support still have costs, and optional services such as Official UniFi Hosting and CyberSecure carry subscriptions. We separate those costs in the proposed scope.

Moving from Cisco Meraki

Renewal timing is a useful point to compare alternatives. We review your Meraki devices, licensing model, wireless coverage, guest access, site connections and management needs before proposing a UniFi replacement.

The comparison should include replacement hardware, migration labor and any support you still need—not just the license renewal.

Moving from Fortinet

Start with the firewall and security requirements. We review the FortiGate features and services you use, along with VPNs, routing, policies and any connected switching or wireless equipment.

UniFi may fit some environments; others may need to retain their Fortinet firewall or use a different approach. A partial migration can be worth considering.

A PLANNED TRANSITION

Know what changes.
Know what stays.

  1. Review the existing network. Inventory equipment and map networks, security rules, remote access and business dependencies with your team.
  2. Agree on the design and costs. Identify suitable equipment, reusable infrastructure, feature tradeoffs and a defined project scope.
  3. Plan the cutover. Coordinate an installation window, expected interruptions, backups and a rollback approach before making changes.
  4. Test and hand over. Check the agreed connections and workflows, document the setup and walk your team through everyday management.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you replace anything.

Is UniFi a direct replacement for every Meraki or Fortinet network?

No. The right choice depends on your security, routing, resilience, management and support requirements. We explain material differences before recommending a migration.

Can we keep our existing firewall and change only the Wi-Fi?

That may be possible. We review how the systems connect, including VLANs, addressing, switch ports and power requirements. The scope can cover selected components instead of a full replacement.

Will switching eliminate all subscription costs?

Not necessarily. Core UniFi management can be license-free, but optional hosting, enhanced security and separately agreed support may have recurring costs. Internet service also remains separate.

Can the migration happen without downtime?

Equipment changes can interrupt service. We agree on the cutover window and expected impact, and plan testing and recovery steps. We do not promise zero downtime.

How much does a UniFi migration cost?

Migration projects are quoted around the equipment, configuration, sites and testing required. Start by sharing your current setup and goals. Our free assessment covers review and recommendations; configuration, installation and migration work are paid services.
